The Mother’s Day is a widely recognized holiday on the occasion of which all children – disregarding their age – express love and thanks to their mothers. It is celebrated in various parts of the world on various days. In the Czech Republic, the holiday is observed on the second Sunday in May.
A silver pendant with a thank-you-note makes a lovely and valuable gift for any mum.
On the obverse side, author of the medal Zuzana Hubená depicted a mother in a decorative veil with a baby in her arms. A legend on the right side reads “Den matek“ (Mother’s Day).
The reverse side, designed by Majka Wichnerová, features text “Díky za všechno, mami.“ (Thank you for everything, mum) placed on a symbolic scroll with decorative leaves.
At the rim there are round beads, an old popular ornament reminding of a string of pearls.
