Silver medal First Prague tram proof

This medal was issued to mark the 135th anniversary of the launch of the first Prague horse-drawn tram, so-called horse-tram. The first horse-tram in Prague drove passengers from the suspension bridge of Franz I (where the construction of the National Theatre was in progress at the time) to Invalidovna in the Karlín district. The first Prague trams were drawn by a horse span on wooden metal-clad rails at a maximum speed of 8 km/hour.

The obverse side of the medal features a scene from an engraving dated 1875, when the operation of the horse-tramway was launched. Below the tram car there is a detail of the wheel with the brake system.

The reverse side of the medal features the tram car designed for a year-round , and mostly winter, operation. A detail of the first tram ticket from this period is shown behind.

Limited edition of 500 pieces, plain (smooth) edge with lettering "Česká mincovna Jablonec nad Nisou".
