2500-crown gold coin Hammer Mill in Dobřív proof

This 2500-crown coin features a water-powered hammer mill in Dobřív, the largest manufacturing hammer mill in the territory of the Czech Republic, proclaimed a national heritage site on 1 July 2010. The coin is made in proof quality with a plain edge.

The obverse side depicts a composition of heraldic animals inspired by the great state coat of arms. At the centre is the Czech lion flanked by the Moravian eagle on the right and the Silesian eagle on the left. Below is inscribed the name of the state in Czech “ČESKÁ REPUBLIKA” and the denomination and the abbreviated unit of Czech currency “2500 Kč”. The mintmark of the Czech Mint is on the left side of the inscription. The title of the series “INDUSTRIAL HERITAGE SITES” is lettered around the left, top and right rim of the coin.

The reverse side features the interior work equipment of the Dobřív hammer mill – a drop hammer against a view of the water wheel driving the hammer. Around the left, top and right rim of the coin is the inscription “HAMR V DOBŘÍVĚ” and the year of mintage “2010”. On the bottom left side, next to the shaft, are placed intertwined letters “V” and “J”, the initials of the coin’s designer, sculptor Jaroslav Veselák.

Each coin comes complete with a postcard-sized catalogue card made of red semi-carton. It features the coin in gold colour, its relief being dry-stamped. The coin description is in Czech and English. The card is identical for both standard and proof coins.
